Each year, the Micro Play Festival will premiere new works by local playwrights based on prompts and themes that are directly related to Central Arkansas! Check out the info below for this year's theme, prompt, and how to get involved!
The 2022 Micro Play Festival will take place on November 7 and 8th (that's right, Election Night!)
Actors Theatre of Little Rock is now accepting scripts exploring the following prompt:
"It's the MidTerms! Again...What does Democracy look like now? The good, the bad, and the ugly. Do we even recognize America anymore? Where are we going in terms of local and national politics? What faith does America have in itself?"
We are accepting all plays SHORTER than ten minutes. You may submit anything from a one minute play, a monologue, a 5 minute scene, to a traditional "ten minute play", BUT... it MUST be brief!
To be considered for the 2022 Festival, scripts must be submitted no later than September 1, 2022.
We are curating a collection of short plays that create a conversation around all things democracy. Plays that explore Arkansas issues are strongly encouraged.
Suggestions: Keep the number of characters under six. Feel free to write fantastical stage directions, but understand that like the title of this festival our production budget is micro. Write something that packs a punch - get to the point, we don't have all day! Literally. You have under ten minutes!
The Micro-Play Fest will be performed in person and live streamed for Patreon members. Plays in the festival may be selected to be published digitally by ATLR.
For any questions, or to submit scripts for consideration, please send an email to info@actorstheatrelr.org with subject line "Micro Play Fest".
