For the first time in 15 years, Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd returns to Little Rock!

Experience the dark, witty and Tony Award-winning tale of love, murder and revenge as you never have before! Our reimagined production is set in the round and immersive! Audiences will be transported to 19th century London as the show takes place all around them, with some audience members even having the opportunity to join the action!

Returned to London following a wrongful banishment, barber Sweeney Todd’s thirst for vengeance against the corrupt judge who sent him away leads him on a murderous spree. Aided by his downstairs neighbor, baker Mrs. Lovett, the two concoct an unappetizing scheme as they terrorize the city.

Featuring the songs “The Worst Pies in London,” “A Little Priest,” “Johanna” and “Not While I’m Around,” this deliciously dark musical serves horror with a slice of humor.

“Mr. Sondheim has composed an endlessly inventive, highly expressive score that works indivisibly from his brilliant and abrasive lyrics.”
―
The New York Times

Running time is approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes, with one intermission.

Content Advisory

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street contains the following content which may not be suitable for all audiences. This content includes the following:

Characters will depict relationships which include sexual references and innuendo, implied nudity, inappropriate conduct with minors, and sexual violence, including rape. Specific acts are highly stylized and theatrical but may be intense for some viewers.

The show contains the reoccurrence of murder and physical violence. Human remains are shown to be used as ingredients and unknowingly consumed by several characters. Scenes which depict these events are highly stylized and, in some cases, approached with dark humor. This production will not use fake (or real) blood other than showing it as a stain on fabric material.

This productions themes include violence and revenge and will contain several scenes of intense and frightening nature. There are many moments of staged intense violence. A prop gun is present and used on stage.

This production is set in the round and immersive. As such, some seats may be subject to being touched by the performers. There will be the use of theatrical haze and strobe effect. This is a high auditory intensive show - multiple scenes feature a high-pitched loud whistle sound. If you have auditory sensitivities, we suggest using earplugs or headphones. The music is dissonant in nature and sounds are meant to be jarring at times.
